KINGSTON, Ont. (Nov. 4, 2023) - Queen's Women's Basketball kept up their strong start, closing out their season-opening weekend with a 82-51 win over the visiting Nipissing Lakers Saturday night at the Athletics and Recreation Centre (ARC).
Laura Donovan (London, Ont.) led Queen's offence with a team-high 21 points, while
Julia Chadwick (Ottawa, Ont.) kicked in 14 points and
Mikayla McFarlane (Kingston, Ont.) added 11 points off the bench.
The Gaels dominated the paint in the win, outrebounding Nipissing 35-32 and outscoring them down low 34-16.
Queen's bench had a second straight strong game as well, finishing with 32 points to just three from the Lakers' bench.
The Gaels finished the game shooting 36 per cent from the floor and 31 per cent from three-point range.
With the win, the Gaels record improved to 2-0. Queen's will be back in action next weekend, taking on the Laurentian Voyageurs and Lakers on the road.
