KINGSTON, Ont. (Nov. 3, 2023) - Queen's Men's Basketball defeated the Nipissing Lakers 85-46 in their season opener, starting the 2023-24 season with a big victory.
Five Gaels players scored in double digits in the win, led by Isaac Krueger (Guelph, Ont.), who scored a game-high 14 points in 22 minutes off the bench. Krueger also pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds for a double-double.
Fofo Adetogun (Regina, Sask.) added 11 points off the bench in the win while Cole Syllas (Kingston, Ont.), Cam Bett (Staines-upon-Thames, UK), and Michael Kelvin (Kingston, Ont.) added 10 points each.
The Gaels' bench finished with 42 points, outscoring the Voyageurs' bench, who finished with 24 points.
Queen's defence was also big in the win, holding Laurentian to 32 per cent shooting from the floor and 16 per cent from three-point range, while forcing 15 turnovers which resulted in 32 points.
The Gaels finished the game shooting 46 per cent from the floor and 29 per cent from three-point range.
