Queen's Women's Hockey opened their weekend road series with a big 5-2 win over the Laurier Golden Hawks Saturday night in Waterloo, Ont.
After the two teams traded power play goals in the first period, the Gaels would explode for four goals in the second period, while holding the Golden Hawks to just one. After a scoreless third period, Queen's held on for the three-goal win.
Sara Di Filippo (Oakville, Ont.),
Mikayla Cranney (Aurora, Ont.),
Alyson Reeves (Toronto, Ont.),
Kelsey Dunn (Sudbury, Ont.), and
Rebecca Thompson (Kingston, Ont.) all scored for Queen's in the win.
Dunn added two assists for a three-point night while Reeves had one assist for a two-point night.
Emma Tennant (Pointe-Claire, Que.) made 25 saves in the win for the Gaels.
With the win, the Gaels' third in a row, Queen's record on the season improved to 4-4-0. The Gaels will round out their weekend road trip on Sunday in London, Ont., taking on the Western Mustangs.
