Queen's Men's Soccer capped their regular season schedule with a big 3-0 win over the Nipissing Lakers in North Bay, Ont. Sunday.
The Gaels opened the scoring in the 13th minute when
Diadie Traore found the back of the net.
Queen's doubled their lead in the 27th minute when
Matthew Ciavarro (Cambridge, Ont.) scored his 11th goal of the season.
Pablo Hempelmann-Perez (Toronto, Ont.) made it 3-0 for Queen's in the first half, with a goal in the 39th minute. The goal was Hempelmann-Perez's 11th of the season, with both Ciavarro and Hempelmann-Perez finishing tied for second in the OUA in goals.
After a scoreless second half, the Gaels earned the three-goal lead.Â
Queen's out-shot Nipissing in the win, finishing with seven shots and five shots on goal, compared to five shots and two shots on goal for the Lakers.
Connor Adams (Richmond, B.C.) recorded the two saves for the clean sheet in Queen's win.
With the win, Queen's finished the regular season on a seven-game winning streak and with a 7-3-2 record. The Gaels finished fourth in the OUA East Division standings and will host a first round playoff game Wednesday at Richardson Stadium.
