KINGSTON, Ont. (Oct. 1, 2023) - Queen's Women's Soccer kept up their winning ways with a big 5-0 victory over the Toronto Varsity Blues Sunday at Varsity Stadium in Toronto.Â
In the first two minutes of the game, Mattson Stickler (Ottawa, Ont.) laid up a goal for
Vita Naihin (Markham, Ont.) to put the Gaels ahead 1-0. In the twenty-first minute,
Sophie Miranda (Cobble Hill, B.C.) scored in a penalty shot, giving Queen's a 2-0 lead.
Twenty minutes into the second half,
Seema Sakran (Ottawa, Ont.) scored a goal for the Gaels on a corner kick, and another twenty minutes later,
Tatiana Kayrouz (Ottawa, Ont.) put a fourth goal up for the Gaels. After the 90th minute,
Kendra Couto (Aylmer, Ont.) put a fifth goal in the net for Queen's, ending the game in a 5-0 score for the Gaels.
Kirstin Tynan (North Vancouver, B.C.) made five saves for a sixth clean sheet on the season.
After this match, Queen's raised their overall standings to 7-0-1, and they will be back in action on Oct. 5th to face the RMC Paladins.
