KINGSTON, Ont. (Oct. 1, 2023) After surrendering an early goal, Queen's Men's Soccer scored four unanswered to defeat the Toronto Varsity Blues 4-1 Sunday afternoon at Varsity Stadium in Toronto, Ont.Â
Toronto opened the scoring early in the 13th minute, leading the Gaels 1-0 for the majority of the first half. Within the last three minutes of the first half, Matthew Ciavarro (Cambridge, Ont.) and Andrea Gortana (Vaughan, Ont.) found the back of the net to give the Gaels a 2-1 lead at half time.
In the 61st minute, Ciavarro scored his second goal of the game, putting Queen's up 3-1.
And in the 90th minute,
Pablo Hempelmann-Perez (Toronto, Ont.) scored, resulting in a final score of 4-1 for the Gaels.Â
With the win, the Gaels improved their record to 3-3-2 and will be back in action on Oct. 5th as they take on the RMC Paladins.
