KINGSTON, Ont. (Jan. 6, 2022) - Queen's Women's Basketball defeated the Brock Badgers 74-45 to open the second half of their regular season Friday at the Athletics and Recreation Centre.
The 29-point win over the Badgers, last year's opponent in the bronze medal game at the U SPORTS Final 8, kept the Gaels undefeated on the season and improved their record to 11-0.
Julia Chadwick, Queen's leading scorer from the first half of the season, led the way against Brock with a double-double, recording 18 points and 14 rebounds, both game-highs.
Emma Weltz also scored in double digits for the Gaels with 12 points, while
Bridget Mulholland finished with 11 rebounds.
Queen's jumped out to an eight-point lead after the first quarter and pulled away from the Badgers in the second half, outscoring their opponents by 20 points.
It was a total team effort in the win, with the Gaels recording 26 points off the bench.
Queen's finished the game shooting 36 per cent from the floor and 32 per cent from three-point range while holding Brock to 29 per cent shooting from the floor and 20 per cent from three-point range.
Friday night's win was the Gaels' lone game of the weekend. Queen's will return to the court next weekend when they visit the Algoma Thunderbirds in Sault Ste. Marie on Saturday, Jan. 14 at 4 p.m. Watch all the action on
