KINGSTON, Ont. (Jan. 28, 2023) - The Queen's Women's Hockey team had a tough loss against the Waterloo Warriors Saturday at the Memorial Centre, ending in a 6-1 score for Waterloo.
Queen's started the game off strong with a goal by
Quinn Johnston just thirty seconds into the first period, assisted by
Rebecca Thompson and Alexandra Maw. This goal was answered by Waterloo six minutes later to tie the game. With seven minutes left in the first, the Warriors scored another goal to give them a 2-1 lead at the end of the first.
The Warriors kept their lead by popping in three goals in the second period, two within the first three minutes of the period and one with seven minutes remaining.
Waterloo secured the game with their final sixth goal with six minutes left in the third period, resulting in a 6-1 loss for the Queen's Gaels.
Vanessa Campeau finished the game with 20 saves for Queen's.
After the game, Queen's overall standings dropped to 5-7-5-4, and remain in 3rd place in the East OUA Standings.
