Quinn Johnston scored 46 seconds into overtime to send Queen's Women's Hockey past the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks 2-1 Sunday afternoon in Oshawa, Ont.
The goal, assisted by
Alyson Reeves, gave the Gaels their second straight win after opening the weekend with an identical 2-1 overtime win over the Nipissing Lakers Saturday night.
Queen's opened the scoring late in the first period when
Emma McKnight found the back of the net on a goal assisted by
Logan Biggs and
Rebecca Thompson.
After a scoreless second period, the Ridgebacks scored early in the third to send the game to overtime.
Vanessa Campeau was outstanding in net for the Gaels, finishing with 47 saves in the win. Queen's finished with 35 shots on net against Ontario Tech.
With the win, the Gaels improved their record to 3-7-6-4, and currently sit third in the OUA East Division standings.Â
