KINGSTON, Ont. (Sept. 2, 2022) - Queen's Women's Soccer outshot the Carleton Ravens 26-1 but had to settle for a 1-1 tie in their regular season opener Friday afternoon at Richardson Stadium.
The Gaels finished the game with seven shots on net but Ravens goalkeeper Chloe Lachance-Soula made six saves as Queen's earned a point in the draw.
Queen's controlled play in the first 45 minutes but the first half finished goal-less. Carleton's Elodie Sylvain opened the scoring and gave the Ravens the lead with a goal off a free kick in the 60th minute.
The Gaels would record the equalizer 19 minutes later when
Marissa Gravel (Ottawa, Ont.) found the back of the net off a smart feed from
Seema Sakran (Barrie, Ont.). The final 10 minutes plus stoppage time didn't solve anything, with the game ending in a 1-1 draw.
Queen's Women's Soccer is back in action on Saturday, Sept. 3, taking on the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks at 1 p.m. at Richardson Stadium to complete their season-opening doubleheader.
