KINGSTON, Ont. (Sept. 2, 2022) - Queen's Men's Soccer's second half comeback fell short as the Gaels fell 3-1 to the Carleton Ravens in their season opener Saturday afternoon at Richardson Stadium.
The Gaels fell behind 3-0 in the first half off three quick goals by the Ravens before getting one back in the second half, but couldn't complete the comeback in the two-goal loss.
Daniel Assaf scored in the 10th and 24th minute while Silvio Simil found the back of the net in the 12th minute to give Carleton the three-goal first half lead.
Queen's had a number of chances in the second half with
Lucas Booth (Vancouver, B.C.) scoring for the Gaels in the 70th minute, but that stood to be Queen's only goal in the season-opening loss.
Queen's outshot the Ravens 11-9 with five shots on goal compared to Carleton's seven.
Connor Adams (Richmond, B.C.) finished with four saves for the Gaels in the loss.
Queen's Men's Soccer returns to action Saturday at 3:15 p.m. at Richardson Stadium, taking on the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks in the second half of their season-opening weekend doubleheader.
