Women's Hockey closes out regular season with big win over York

BOX SCORE Scout Watkins Southward scored two goals and Makenzy Arsenault made 38 saves as Queen's Women's Hockey ended their regular season with a 4-0 win over the York Lions on the road in Toronto, Ont. Saturday.

After a scoreless first period, Kelsey Dunn (Sudbury, Ont.) opened the scoring for the Gaels in the second period with a power play goal assisted by Quinn Johnston (Toronto, Ont.) and Brooklyn Bastarache (Courtice, Ont.).

Alex Maw (Whitby, Ont.) doubled Queen's lead midway through the third period with another power play goal, assisted by Charlotte Melindy (Whitby, Ont.).

Southward (Kingston, Ont.) scored her first of the game less than three minutes later, with assists going to Johnston and Sydney Wilson (Pickering, Ont.), before she added an empty-netter late in the third to secure the four-goal win for the Gaels.

Queen's were out-shot 38-14 but Arsenault (Whitby, Ont.) turned away all Lions chances for her first shutout of the season.

With the win, the Gaels ended their regular season with a 2-8-1 record. The Lions' record dropped to 3-12-1-1 with the loss.
