Connor Keefe (Halifax, N.S.) capped the comeback win with a massive dunk with 20 seconds to play as Queen's Men's Basketball came back from 10 points down to defeat the York Lions 68-66 Friday at the ARC.
After building a first half lead, the Gaels fell behind by 10 points in the second half but came back and took the lead the late with Keefe's dunk and held on for the two-point win.
Luka Syllas (Kingston, Ont.) led the way for Queen's offensively with a double-double, recording 21 points and 14 points.
Cole Syllas (Kingston, Ont.) finished one rebound short of a double-double, recording 11 points and nine rebounds, and
Quinton Gray (Richmond Hill, Ont.) added 17 points in the win.
The Gaels shot 32.9 per cent from the floor (23-70) and 23.3 per cent from three-point range (7-30). They held York to 33.9 per cent shooting from the floor (20-59) and 19.2 per cent from three-point range (5-26).
With the win, the Gaels improved their record to 9-2 and remain in third place in the OUA East Division standings. The Lions' record fell to 3-10 with the loss.
Queen's will host York in the second game of their doubleheader Saturday at 2 p.m. at the ARC.Â
