KINGSTON, Ont. (March 5, 2022) - Queen's Men's Basketball fell to the York Lions 114-110 in the second game of their weekend doubleheader Saturday at the ARC.
The Gaels led by 23 points at half time, and 12 points heading into the fourth quarter, but the Lions completed the comeback to take the four-point win.
Saturday's game was the highest offensive output for Queen's this season with five Gaels scoring in double digits.
Quinton Gray (Richmond Hill, Ont.) led the way with 33 points and seven rebounds.
Cole Syllas (Kingston, Ont.) recorded a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds in the loss while
Isaac Krueger (Guelph, Ont.) added 17 points,
Luka Syllas (Kingston, Ont.) scored 12 points, and
Cameron Bett (Staines-Upon-Thames, Eng.) finished with 10 points.
The Gaels shot 37-86 (43 per cent) from the floor and 14-42 (33.3 per cent) from three-point range, while the Lions shot 30-65 (46.2 per cent) from the floor and 12-31 (38.7 per cent) from three-point range.Â
The loss snapped the Gaels' four-game winning streak and dropped their record to 9-3. They remain in third place in the OUA East Division standings. York's record improved to 4-10 with the win.
The Gaels will close out their regular season next weekend with a home-and-home series against the Carleton Ravens. Queen's will host Carleton Friday at 8 p.m. at the ARC before travelling to Ottawa, Ont. to take on the Ravens Saturday at 8 p.m.
