KINGSTON, Ont. (March 11, 2022) –
Liam Dunda opened the scoring less than a minute into the first period and finished with two goals as Queen's Men's Hockey routed the Nipissing Lakers 7-0 Friday night at the Memorial Centre.
Dunda (Grimsby, Ont.) scored 35 seconds into the game and added his second early in the second period.
Jakob Brahaney (Hastings, Ont.) and
Nolan Hutcheson (Kingston, Ont.) also scored for the Gaels in the first period while
Ryan Cranford (Embrun, Ont.) scored in the second and
Jonathan Yantsis (Markham, Ont.) and
Owen Lalonde (Windsor, Ont.) added goals in the third period in Queen's big seven-goal win.
Cranford, Lalonde, Brahaney, and Hutcheson all added assists for two-point nights, while
Jacob Paquette (Ottawa, Ont.) recorded two assists in the win.
The Gaels out-shot the Lakers 26-19 with
Luke Richardson (Barrie, Ont.) stopping all 19 shots for the shutout.
With the win, Queen's improved their record to 16-1-1 while Nipissing fell to 10-6-1 with the loss. The Gaels will close out their regular season in the second game of their doubleheader against the Lakers Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the Memorial Centre.
