KINGSTON, Ont. (Feb. 25, 2022) - Queen's Women's Hockey returned to the ice for the first time since their doubleheader against the Nipissing Lakers in early February, and were edged by the Rams 3-2 Friday at the Memorial Centre.
Madelyn Briggs (Toronto, Ont.) and
Sara Di Filippo (Oakville, Ont.) both scored their first goals with the Gaels in the first period.
Quinn Johnston (Toronto, Ont.) and
Rebecca Thompson (Kingston, Ont.) recorded assists on the Gaels' first period goals.
The Rams would respond with two goals in less than a minute, scored by Brooklyn Gemmill and Lauren Nicholson, to even the score heading into the second period.
After a scoreless second period, Keelin Farren scored the winner for the Rams midway through the third period.
Makenzy Arsenault (Whitby, Ont.) made 29 saves for Queen's in the loss.
The Gaels' record fell to 1-7-1 with the loss. Queen's is fifth in the OUA East Division standings. The Rams improved to 5-5-0-1 after the win.
