Cole Syllas scored a game-high 26 points to help Queen's Men's Basketball past the Nipissing Lakers 86-70 Friday night in the first of their two games in North Bay, Ont. over the weekend.
Syllas (Kingston, Ont.) added seven rebounds in the win for Queen's (No. 8).
Four other Gaels scored in double digits in the win, with
Quinton Gray (Richmond Hill, Ont.) and
Henry Van Herk (Toronto, Ont.) scoring 11 points each and
Luka Syllas (Kingston, Ont.) and
Cameron Bett (Staines-Upon-Thames, England) added 10 points each.
Connor Keefe (Halifax, N.S.) finished the game with a game-high 11 points and fell just two points shy of a double-double, recording eight in the win.
Queen's outshot Nipissing in the win, finishing 30-65 (46.2 per cent) from the floor and 7-23 (30.4 per cent) from three-point range while holding the Lakers to 23-71 (32.4 per cent) shooting from the floor and 14-47 (29.8 per cent) from three-point range.
The Gaels are now 7-2 on the season, third in the OUA East Division standings behind the Carleton Ravens (10-0) and Ottawa Gee-Gees (9-1).
The Gaels and Lakers will conclude their doubleheader Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in North Bay.
