Queen's Women's Hockey fell to the Nipissing Lakers 4-1 Saturday in North Bay, Ont. It was the second straight loss for the Gaels against Nipissing, after dropping Friday's contest in North Bay 6-2.
The loss dropped Queen's record to 2-6-0 while the Lakers (No. 8) improved to 7-1-0 after the win.
After
Carys Collie (Ajax, Ont.) opened the scoring for Queen's on a goal assisted by
Nicole Posesorski (Toronto, Ont.) early in the first period, Malory Dominico evened the scoring for Nipissing with a power play goal late in the first period.
Jetta Derenoski gave the Lakers the lead in the second period while Katelyn Heppner and Brianna Gaffney added goals in the third period to give Nipissing the three-goal win.
Queen's were outshot 34-26 with
Makenzy Arsenault (Whitby, Ont.) finishing the game with 31 saves.
The Gaels return to the ice Friday at 7:30 p.m. against the Rams at the Memorial Centre.
