KINGSTON, Ont. (Feb. 11, 2022) - Queen's Women's Basketball opened the second half of their regular season with a 59-47 win over the No. 7 ranked Ottawa Gee-Gees Friday night at the ARC.
It was the first loss of the season for the Gee-Gees (6-1) and improved Queen's (No. 10)Â record to 4-2 on the season.Â
Laura Donovan (London, Ont.) led all scorers with 14 points for the Gaels while adding five rebounds and three steals.
Julia Chadwick (Ottawa, Ont.) also scored in double figures for Queen's finishing the game with 10 points and six rebounds.
Sophie de Goede (Victoria, B.C.) pulled down a team-high seven rebounds in the win.
Brigitte Lefebvre-Okankwu led the way for the Gee-Gees in the losing effort with 11 points and nine rebounds.
The Gaels shot 20-59 (33.9 per cent) from the floor and 5-22 (22.7 per cent) from three-point range, while holding Ottawa to 18-51 (35.3 per cent) shooting from the floor and 3-15 (20 per cent) from three-point range.
The teams will meet again Saturday at 5 p.m. in the back half of a home-and-home in Ottawa, Ont.
