KINGSTON, Ont. (Nov. 5, 2022) - Queen's Men's Rugby fell short to the Laurier Golden Hawks in the OUA Semifinals Saturday at Nixon Field.
Leading the majority of the game, the Gaels gave up a try in the 65th minute to give the Golden Hawks a lead they were able to keep until the end of the game to complete the win on Queen's home turf.Â
Starting strong, the Gaels earned a try in the third minute from Tom Kirkwood. Laurier equalized in the eighth minute. The Gaels' Will Matthews then stormed the field, completing a 20-yard run for a try for Queen's to take the lead once again. Queen's continued to dominate the first half, ending the half 10 ahead with a score of 22-12. Â
The Golden Hawks were able to hold up the Gaels for the entire second half, not allowing them to score a single point. Laurier was able to complete three tries, two conversions and one penalty. The final score was 34-22 for the visitors.
