KINGSTON, Ont. (Nov. 4, 2022) - Queen's Men's Hockey won their second game in a row, doubling up the Nipissing Lakers 4-2 Friday at the Memorial Centre.
The Lakers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, with Payton Vescio and Brady Lynn scoring for Nipissing in the first five minutes of the game.
The Gaels would get one back before the period was out, with captain
Ryan Cranford finding the back of the net late in the frame, assisted by
Aidan Prueter and
Jack Duff.
Queen's would even the score early in the second period, with a power play goal scored by
Josh Curtis with assists to
Hayden Fowler and
Jonathan Yantsis. And on the power play again, the Gaels would take their first lead of the game late in the period, with
Nolan Hutcheson finding the back of the net, assisted by Fowler and
Owen Lalonde.
Matthew Hotchkiss would ice the Gaels' win late in the third period with a goal, assisted by Curtis and Hutcheson, to give Queen's a two-score lead they would not relinquish.
Queen's outshot the Lakers 34-25 in the win.
The Gaels improved their record to 3-5 with the win while Nipissing's record fell to 0-6-1 with the loss. Queen's will return to the ice on Wednesday, Nov. 9, taking on their crosstown rivals, the RMC Paladins at Memorial Centre.Â
