Queen's Men's Basketball remain undefeated with win over Nipissing

KINGSTON, Ont. (Nov. 4, 2022) - Queen's Men's Basketball won their second 2022-23 OUA regular season game with a big 98-84 win over the Nipissing Lakers Friday night at the Athletics and Recreation Centre (ARC). 
 
The contest was close through the first three quarters, with Queen's outscoring Nipissing 24-16 in the first quarter and leading only 41-39 at half time. It was still a nail biter heading into the fourth with the Gaels up 67-62. The team was able to pull away in the fourth, outscoring the Lakers 31-22 to lead the way to the end for a final score of 98-84. 
 
Five players for the Gaels finished the game in double digits in scoring, led by Luka Syllas with 31 points. Cole Syllas scored 16 points, with Cameron Bett not far behind at 15. Connor Keefe had 13 rebounds and 10 points on the night.
 
Nipissing had two players score over 20 points, with Danny Lukusa and Muktar Mohamed combining for 47 points on the night, more than half of the Lakers points between the two. Mohamed was also 8 for 8 on his free throws.  
 
With the win, Queen's started the season 2-0. The Gaels will take on the visiting Ontario Tech Ridgebacks next Friday, November 11 at 8 pm in the ARC. The game will also be available to stream on oua.tv
