KINGSTON, Ont. (Nov. 3, 2022) - Queen's Men's Basketball opened their 2022-23 OUA regular season with a big 91-52 win over the Laurentian Voyageurs Thursday night at the Athletics and Recreation Centre (ARC).
52 of Queen's 91 points came in the paint with the Gaels shooting nearly 50 per cent for the game, finishing 39-78. They held the Voyageurs to just 31 per cent shooting (16-52) from the floor and 27 per cent shooting (6-22) from three-point range.
Four players for the Gaels finished the game in double digits in scoring, led by
Isaac Krueger and his game-high 17 points.
Cole Syllas scored 15 points and tied for the team-high in rebounds with seven, while
Luka Syllas and
Scott Jenkins added 13 points each in the win. It was a team effort on the offensive side for the Gaels, with 38 bench points on the night led by Jenkins' 13.
Coban Scott was the lone Voyageurs player to finish the game in double digits scoring, pouring in 11 points for Laurentian.
With the win, Queen's started the season 1-0. The team will close out their weekend doubleheader tomorrow against Nipissing, taking on the Lakers Friday, Nov. 4 at 8 p.m. at the ARC.
