Queen's Women's Hockey drop close contest to Toronto

Queen's Women's Hockey fell to the Toronto Varsity Blues 5-4 Friday in Toronto, Ont.

After the Varsity Blues jumped out to a four-goal lead through, Queen's fought back in the middle of the third period, cutting Toronto's lead to one-goal.

Sara Di Filippo, Quinn Johnston, and Kelsey Dunn all scored for the Gaels to pull Queen's back in the game.

Toronto would add one more and while Scout Watkins-Southward scored late in the game, it wasn't enough and the Gaels fell 5-4.

Queen's goalie Lexi Giorgi made an impressive 44 saves in the loss.

With the loss, Queen's fell to 1-3-2-1 on the season. The Gaels are back on the ice Saturday, hosting the York Lions at 7:30 p.m. at the Memorial Centre.
