KINGSTON, Ont. (Oct. 28, 2022) - Queen's Women's Hockey lost their home opener for the 2022-2023 season to the Guelph Gryphons, 5-1 Friday night at the Memorial Centre.
The Gaels outshot the Gryphons 36-1 but were only able to get one past the goalkeeper.
Guelph opened the scoring in the third minute of the first period and followed up with a second goal 16 minutes later to take a 2-0 lead into the first intermission.
Alyson Reeves got her second goal of the season early in the second to bring the Gaels back into the game at 2-1. The Gryphons followed by scoring two to close the second period up 4-1. Guelph solidified the win by getting one more late in the third period.
The loss dropped Queen's record to 1-2 on the season. The Gaels continue their weekend Saturday, Oct. 29, taking on the Brock Badgers at 7:30 p.m. at the Memorial Centre.
