Scout Watkins Southward scored six minutes into overtime to lift Queen's Women's Hockey over the Windsor Lancers 2-1, giving the Gaels their first win of the regular season.

Watkins Southward (Kingston, Ont.) found the back of the net for the winner on a goal assisted by Alyson Reeves (Toronto, Ont.) and Rebecca Thompson (Kingston, Ont.).

It was Reeves' second point of the game after she opened the scoring for Queen's in the second period. Sophie Hudson (Maple, Ont.) also recorded an assist in the win.

Vanessa Campeau (Rockland, Ont.) earned the win in net for Queen's, making 30 saves. The Gaels finished with 36 shots on net.

With the win, Queen's started the season 1-1. The Gaels return to action with a doubleheader at Memorial Centre next weekend, taking on the Guelph Gryphons Friday, Oct. 28 and the Brock Badgers Saturday, Oct. 29. Saturday's game against Brock is the team's Home Opener game with free admission to all fans.
