KINGSTON, Ont. (Oct. 22, 2022) - Queen's Men's Hockey earned their first win of the regular season, defeating the Carleton Ravens 4-1 at the Memorial Centre Saturday night.
Hayden Fowler and
Owen Lalonde led the way offensively for the Gaels with two-point performances each. Fowler (Kingston, Ont.) recorded a goal and an assist while Lalonde (Windsor, Ont.) finished the game with two assists.
Queen's opened the scoring with a shorthanded goal off the stick of
Ryan Cranford (Embrun, Ont.) early in the first period.
After the Ravens evened the score late in the first, the Gaels responded with three unanswered goals for the three-goal win.
Along with Cranford and Fowler,
Holden Katzalay (West Vancouver, B.C.) and
Duncan Campbell (Brandon, Man.) also scored for Queen's.
Luke Richardson (Barrie, Ont.) made 21 saves in the win.
Queen's is now 1-3-0 on the season. They will return to the ice next weekend with a road trip to Montreal, Que., taking on the Concordia Stingers Friday, Oct. 28 and the McGill Redbirds Saturday, Oct. 29.
