KINGSTON, Ont. (Oct. 12, 2022) - Queen's Men's Soccer returned to the win column with a 2-0 victory over their cross-town rival, the RMC Paladins, Wednesday night at RMC.
First half goals by
Pablo Hempelmann-Perez and
Noah Campagna led to the Gaels' two-goal victory. Hempelmann-Perez (Toronto, Ont.), opened the scoring in the 30th minute with his fifth goal of the season, tied for the team lead in seventh in the OUA.
Campagna (Ottawa, Ont.) doubled Queen's lead in the 45th minute with a penalty kick.
After a scoreless second half, Queen's took home the win to improve their record to 3-5-1 on the season.
The Gaels outshot the Paladins 17-4 and with 15 shots on goal compared to four for RMC.
Manuel Dirube (Oakville, Ont.) made four saves for the clean sheet in the win.
Queen's now sit sixth in the OUA East standings. The Gaels return to action this weekend, travelling to Peterborough, Ont. to take on the Trent Excalibur Saturday, Oct. 15 at 3:15 p.m.
