Current Queen's Gaels student-athlete Gavin Stone was part of Canada's men's four rowing team that finished second in Final B at the Tokyo Olympic Games on Wednesday, July 28.
Stone (Brampton, Ont.), along with Team Canada teammates Jakub Buczek, Luke Gadsdon, and William Crothers, finished the Final B with a time of 5:58.29 over the 2,000 metre course, 1.12 seconds behind the Final B winners from Poland.
The crew began the event with a time of 6:05.47 in their heat before progressing to Final B by finishing four in the Repechage with a time of 6:15.86.
Australia's crew won the gold medal in the men's four while Romania took home the silver medal and Italy captured the bronze medal.
Stone was Queen's University's Outstanding Performance of the Year award winner in 2018-19. That season he took national gold at the Canadian University Rowing Championships. He also won a pair of gold medals at the OUA Championship, where he was named the male athlete of the year and an OUA All-Star.
