Queen's Men's Hockey defeated the Nipissing Lakers 6-3 Friday at the Memorial Centre to improve their record to 7-0-1 on the season.
After
Ryan Cranford (Embrun, Ont.) opened the scoring for the Gaels late in the first period on a goal assisted by
Duncan Campbell (Brandon, Man.) and
Liam Dunda (Grimsby, Ont.), the Lakers responded early in the second period to even the score.
Queen's scored the next three goals, with
Hayden Fowler (Kingston, Ont.),
Thomas Stevenson (Ottawa, Ont.), and
Jack Duff (Kingston, Ont.) finding the back of the net, before Nipissing got one back to give the Gaels a 4-2 lead heading into the third period.
Owen Lalonde (Windsor, Ont.) and Fowler with his second of the game scored for Queen's in the third period to round out the three-goal win for Queen's.
Stevenson led the Gaels in points with three (one goal, two assists), while Fowler (two goals), Dunda (two assists), and
Josh Curtis (two assists) finished with two points each.
Anthony Popovich (Belleville, Ont.) finished the game with 17 saves for Queen's in the win.
