Queen's Women's Basketball opened their season with a close 68-65 loss to the Rams Friday in Toronto, Ont.
The contest was close through all four quarters, with the teams tied heading into the fourth before the Rams outscored Queen's 19-16 to secure the three-point win. With the loss, Queen's started the season 0-1.
Julia Chadwick (Ottawa, Ont.) led the way for the Gaels in the loss with a double-double, recording 24 points and a game-high 15 rebounds.
Laura Donovan (London, Ont.) added 15 points while
Lireesa Gokhool-Jefferson (Vaughan, Ont.) also finished in double digits in scoring with 10 points.
Queen's shot 50 per cent from the floor and 33 per cent from three-point range (3-9). While the Rams shot just 41 per cent from the floor, they went 10-26 from three-point range (38.5 per cent).
Queen's will return to the court next weekend, taking on the Toronto Varsity Blues in their home opener on Saturday, Nov. 13 at 5 p.m. at the ARC.
