Queen's Women's Basketball defeated the Toronto Varsity Blues 98-62 in their home opener at the ARC Saturday for their first win of the season.
Six players scored in double figures for the Gaels, led by
Laura Donovan (London, Ont.) with 18 points.
Julia Chadwick (Ottawa, Ont.) finished the game with 17 points while
Emma Weltz (Timmins, Ont.) had 14,
Bridget Mulholland (Kingston, Ont.) had 13,
Isabella Belvedere (Bolton, Ont.) had 12, and
Michelle Istead (Ottawa, Ont.) had 11 points.
Chadwick and Mulholland finished the game with double-doubles, recording a game-high 13 rebounds each.
The Gaels shot 52 per cent from the floor and 46 per cent from three-point range, compared to the Varsity Blues' 36 per cent from the floor and 35 per cent from three-point range.
Queen's, now 1-1 on the season, return to the court for a doubleheader against the Laurentian Voyageurs Friday, Nov. 26 and Saturday, Nov. 27 at the ARC.
