Queen's Men's Basketball pulled away in the fourth quarter of a tight contest with the Rams to win their season opener 87-81 in Toronto, Ont. Friday.
The Gaels, who trailed by four points heading into the fourth quarter, made a late run, led by
Cole Syllas andÂ
Quinton Gray, to pull out the win and start the season on the right foot.
Syllas (Kingston, Ont.) led all scorers with 29 points while adding 12 rebounds for the double-double. Gray (Richmond Hill, Ont.) finished with 23 points and seven rebounds in the win for the Gaels.
Aaron Rhooms was the Rams top scorer with 19 points.
Queen's out-shot the Rams, finishing the game 38 per cent from the floor and 26 per cent from three-point range, compared to 36 per cent from the floor and 23 per cent from three-point range for the Rams.
The two teams will conclude their season-opening doubleheader in Toronto on Sunday at 3 p.m.
