Queen's Women's Soccer scored two early goals and held on for a 2-0 win over the Guelph Gryphons in their OUA quarterfinal match Wednesday night at Richardson Stadium.
With the win, the Gaels advanced to the OUA semifinals, which will be played on the weekend.
Jenna Matsukubo (Ottawa, Ont.) opened the scoring in the third minute by finding the back of the net on a cross from
Hannah Melchiorre (Thunder Bay, Ont.)Â
Jenna Leslie (Burlington, Ont.) doubled Queen's lead just four minutes later with a header that found the back of the net off a Melchiorre corner kick.
Kirstin Tynan (North Vancouver, B.C.) came up with a number of big saves for the Gaels in the second half and finished with six saves for the clean sheet.
Queen's finished the game with 18 shots (eight on goal).
