Queen's Women's Hockey defeated the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks 3-1 Saturday at Memorial Centre to split their home-and-home series this weekend.
With the win, Queen's improved their record to 2-4 this season.
Nicole Posesorski (Toronto, Ont.) and
Scout Watkins Southward (Kingston, Ont.) led the Gaels with a goal and an assist each in the win.
Kelsey Dunn (Sudbury, Ont.) opened the scoring early in the first period with a goal assisted by Posesorski and
Rebecca Thompson (Kingston, Ont.).
Posesorski gave Queen's a 2-0 lead in the second period on a goal assisted by Watkins Southward before the Ridgebacks got one back on the power play.
Watkins Southward scored in the third period, assisted by
Quinn Johnston (Toronto, Ont.) and
Alyson Reeves (Toronto, Ont.), to give Queen's the two-goal win.
Makenzy Arsenault (Whitby, Ont.) made 24 saves in the win for the Queen's.
The Gaels are off for the winter break and will return to the ice with a doubleheader against the York Lions on Jan. 14-15.
