Queen's Men's Hockey bounced back from their first loss of the season last weekend to defeat the RMC Paladins 5-2 Friday at the Memorial Centre in a cross-town clash.
Queen's and RMC scored two goals each in the first period, and the game was tied heading into the final frame before the Gaels netted three unanswered goals for the win.
Hayden Fowler (Kingston, Ont.) opened the scoring for Queen's on a goal assisted by
Owen Lalonde (Windsor, Ont.), and
Jonathan Yantsis (Markham, Ont.) before
Jack Duff (Kingston, Ont.) made it 2-0 for the Gaels on a goal assisted by
Ben Fanjoy (Ottawa, Ont.).
The Paladins tied the game before the first period was out and there were no goals in the second period.
Lalonde scored the winner early in the third period on the power play, assisted by Fowler and
Holden Katzalay (West Vancouver, B.C.) before Yantsis, from
Josh Curtis (Winnipeg, Man.), and Curtis, from Yantsis and Katzalay added insurance markers.
With the win, Queen's improved their record to 5-0-1 on the season. The Gaels will return to the ice against the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks on Sunday, Nov. 28 at 3 p.m.
