Queen's Men's Hockey dropped their first game of the regular season Friday, but still picked up a point as they lost to the Ontario Tech Ridgeback 4-3 in a shootout.
After the Gaels found themselves down 3-0 midway through the second period, Queen's scored three unanswered goals to force overtime.
Josh Curtis (Winnipeg, Man.) got the Gaels on the board with a shorthanded goal late in the second period, assisted by
Holden Katzalay (West Vancouver, B.C.).
Then
Graeme Brown (Gananoque, Ont.) scored two goals in the third period, the first assisted by Curtis and
Jonathan Yantsis (Markham, Ont.), and the second assisted by
Owen Lalonde (Windsor, Ont.) and Katzalay.
After overtime solved nothing, Queen's and Ontario Tech went to a shootout, where the Ridgebacks came out on top.
Luke Richardson (Barrie, Ont.) made 32 saves for Queen's in the shootout loss.
The Gaels are back in action Friday, Nov. 26 at 7:30 p.m. against the RMC Paladins at the Memorial Centre.
