Queen's Women's Hockey lost 4-1 to the Toronto Varsity Blues Friday night in Toronto.
After
Sophie Hudson (Maple, Ont.) opened the scoring for the Gaels with a power play goal in the first period, assisted by
Alex Maw (Whitby, Ont.), Toronto responded one minute later with a power play goal of their own by Gabrielle De Serres, to even the score.
Toronto scored two more goals in the second period, with Sophie Grawberger scoring 5-on-5 and Louie Bieman scoring shorthanded, and added a fourth in the third period, a Lara power play marker in their three-goal win.
Kathryn Jalink (Kingston, Ont.) made 37 saves for the Gaels in the loss, while Queen's finished the game with 17 shots on net. Varsity Blues goalie Erica Fryer made 16 saves for Toronto in the win.
Queen's will host the Varsity Blues on the back end of their home-and-home Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Memorial Centre.
