Quinn Johnston scored in the shootout to lead Queen's Women's Hockey past the Toronto Varsity Blues 2-1 Saturday at Memorial Centre for their first win of the season.
After regulation and overtime solved nothing, Johnston (Toronto, Ont.) found the back of the net in the shootout and Queen's improved their record to 1-3 on the season.
After Aili McKeown opened the scoring for the Varsity Blues in the second period,
Sydney Wilson (Pickering, Ont.), evened the score for Queen's on a goal assisted by
Sophie Hudson (Maple, Ont.) and
Kelsey Dunn (Sudbury, Ont.).Â
Mackenzy Arsenault (Whitby, Ont.) made 26 saves for the Gaels in the win. Queen's finished the game with 24 shots on net.
Queen's will return to the ice for a home-and-home series against the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks, in Oshawa, Ont. on Friday, Nov. 26 and at the Memorial Centre on Saturday, Nov. 27 at 7:30 p.m.Â
