Queen's Men's Hockey defeated the Nipissing Lakers 4-2 Saturday to complete the sweep of their doubleheader and improve their record to 4-0 to start the season.
After Nipissing opened the scoring midway through the first period,
Holden Katzalay (West Vancouver, B.C.) evened the score with a power play goal assisted by
Matthew Needham (Pentiction, Ont.) and
Owen Lalonde (Windsor, Ont.).
Jakob Brahaney (Hastings, Ont.) gave the Gaels the lead in the second period with a power play goal assisted by Needham and Lalonde before Needham gave Queen's a two-goal lead heading into the third period with an even strength goal assisted by
Patrick Sanvido (Guelph, Ont.) and
Jonathan Yantsis (Markham, Ont.).
The teams traded third period goals, with Yantsis scoring on the power play, assisted by Katzalay and
Josh Curtis (Winnipeg, Ont.).
Anthony Popovich (Belleville, Ont.) made 25 saves in the win for Queen's.
The Gaels return to the ice against the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks on Friday, Nov. 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the Memorial Centre.
