Queen's Men's Hockey continued their undefeated start to the regular season with a 5-2 win over the Nipissing Lakers Friday night in North Bay, Ont.
Jonathan Yantsis (Markham, Ont.) led the way with two goals while
Owen Lalonde (Windsor, Ont.) recorded a goal and an assist and
Thomas Stevenson (Ottawa, Ont.) finished with two assists.
Lalonde opened the scoring midway through the first period on a goal assisted by
Jaren Burke (Nepean, Ont.) and
Patrick Sanvido (Guelph, Ont.) before Yantsis found the back of the net twice to give Queen's a 3-0 lead after the first frame.
Trevor Longo (North Vancouver, BC),
Josh Curtis (Winnipeg, Man.), and Lalonde recorded assists on Yantsis' goal.
Matthew Needham (Penticton, Ont.) on the power play and
Alex Robert (Ottawa, Ont.) scored for Queen's in the second period to give them a five-goal lead heading into the third period.
Nipissing scored two goals in the third period but it wasn't enough as the Gaels held on for the three-goal win.
Luke Richardson (Barrie, Ont.) made 14 saves for Queen's in the win.
