Queen's Women's Soccer dropped just their second game of the season Sunday at Richardson Stadium, losing 2-1 to the York Lions in the final game of the regular season.
With the loss, Queen's finished the regular season with an 8-2-0 record. The Gaels had secured second place in the OUA East ahead of the game. York's record improved to 6-3-1 with the win.
Christie Gray (Vancouver, BC) opened the scoring for the Gaels in the first half, heading home a corner kick from
Hannah Melchiorre (Thunder Bay, Ont.) in the 14th minute.
Queen's held a 1-0 lead at half time but Kalifornia Mitchell scored two goals for the Lions in the second half, in the 54th and 59 minute, to give York the win.
Gabi Laaouan (Halifax, N.S.) faced five shots on net from York, making three saves.
The Gaels finished with seven shots (three on net).
Queen's finished the regular season as the No. 4 seed in the OUA and will take on the Guelph Gryphons in the first round of the playoffs. The Gaels will host Guelph Wednesday, Nov. 3 at 6 p.m. at Richardson Stadium.
