Queen's Women's Soccer defeated the York Lions 3-0 in Toronto, Ont. Friday night in their final road game of the regular season.
Christie Gray opened the scoring in the 17th minute, finding the back of the net after a corner kick from
Hannah Melchiorre (Thunder Bay, Ont.).
It was the ninth goal of the season for Gray (Vancouver, B.C.), who leads Queen's in scoring and is tied for second in the OUA.
Queen's held a 1-0 lead until the 65th minute when
Jenna Matsukubo (Ottawa, Ont.) broke in on the left side and fired home her sixth goal of the season.
Cecilia Way (Victoria, B.C.) added a third goal for the Gaels with her sixth of the season in the just five minutes later in the 69th minute, assisted by
Tori Chia (Courtice, Ont.).
Kirsten Tynan (North Vancouver, B.C.) recorded three saves to record her seventh win and fifth clean sheet of the season.Â
With the win, the Gaels improved their record to 8-1-0 on the season and secured second place in the OUA East. York's record dropped to 5-3-1 with the loss.
Queen's Women's Soccer will close out their regular season against the Lions on Sunday, Oct. 31 at 1 p.m. at Richardson Stadium.
