After two late goals by the Ottawa Gee-Gees, Queen's Women's Soccer dropped their first game of the season. The Gaels lost to Ottawa 2-1 in a battle of the top two teams in the OUA East in Ottawa, Ont Friday night. With the loss, Queen's record fell to 6-1-0. The Gee-Gees record improved to 7-0-1 with the win.
After a scoreless first half,
Jenna Matsukubo (Ottawa, Ont.) opened the scoring for Queen's in the 60th minute with a goal assisted by
Raya Athwal (White Rock, B.C.)
Allana Oriente evened the score for Ottawa in the 84th minute and Angelina Gendreau scored the winner in stoppage time.
Queen's finshed the game with eight shots and six on goal. The Gee-Gees finished with 16 shots and eight on goal. Gaels goalkeeper Kirsten Tynan (North Vancouver, B.C.) made six saves for Queen's in the loss.
The Gaels are back in action on Sunday, Oct. 24 at 1 p.m., taking on the RMC Paladins at Richardson Stadium.
