KINGSTON, Ont. (February 8, 2020) - The Queen's Men's Basketball team (13-7) defeated the Nippising Lakers (7-13) with a score of 85-60 on Friday night.

The Gaels got off to a good start, opening the game with an early lead. Although the Lakers quickly responded and both teams went point for point through most of the quarter. With less than a minute left in the frame, Nipissing scored two points off of a Gaels foul and a jump shot to take the lead 14-10 moving into the second quarter.
The Gaels drew the game even at 14 early in the second quarter, but the Lakers were once again quick to take the lead. The second quarter was tightly contested as the lead changed six times with Queen's outscoring the Lakers 19-15. Moving into the half it was all tied up at 29-29.
The Gaels started the third quarter red-hot, catching Nippising off guard with a nine point scoring run and taking the lead at 42-33. The Lakers and the Gaels battled back and forth throughout the rest of the third quarter, but Nipissing was not able to repair the damage from Queen's early frame run. The Gaels led the Lakers 60-54 moving into the final quarter.
Queen's started the final frame by extending their lead to 11 points. The Lakers fell away in the fourth, as the Gaels defence kept them to just six points in the quarter. The Gaels walked away with a comfortable 85-60 victory.
Leading the way in victory was
Harry Range scoring 24 points and registering three steals as well as six rebounds. Queen's also limited the Lakers to just 16% from three and 29% from the field.
