Gaels fall 4-1 in Game 1 to No.8 Nipissing

KINGSTON, Ont. (February 19th, 2020) – The Nipissing Lakers (1-0) struck first in the OUA playoffs and defeated the Queen's Gaels (0-1) 4-1 at the Memorial Centre Wednesday night.

Coming into tonight's game one, round one matchup vs the Nipissing Lakers, Queen's looked to continue their success against the Lakers as they took the season series 2-0.

GAME FLOW
The opening period would end with the Gaels down 1-0 off a Lakers goal scored by Malory Dominico.

Less than five minutes into the second period and down by a goal, Robin Ketcheson skated out from behind Lakers goalie Danika Ranger and chipped it in from the right side of the net to tie things up 1-1.

Maria Dominico would be passed the puck as she skated towards Gaels Makenzy Arsenault and got her shot past the goal line with 7:32 left in second giving the Lakers their second lead of the night at 2-1.

Scoring her second of the night, Maria Dominico would put the Gaels down 3-1.

With 5:30 left in the third, the Gaels would allow a game sealing fourth goal to a secure a Lakers win.

UP NEXT
Queen's will have to win the next two in North Bay if they want to move on to the next round. They'll look to tie the series up in game 2 this Friday. Queen's will travel to North Bay with the puck scheduled to drop at 7:30 pm.
