Keefe posts 17 and 16 while Gray scores 36 as Gaels upset No.10 McMaster

HAMILTON (January 24, 2020) - The Queen's Men's Basketball team (9-6) upset the No.10 nationally-ranked McMaster Marauders (9-6) with a score of 97-95 on Friday night.  
 
GAME FLOW
The Gaels got off to a slow start, missing scoring opportunities while the Marauders got out to a six-point lead. Queen's was able to keep the game close, with Quinton Gray leading the offensive charge scoring seven points. This was not enough for the Gaels as they moved into the second frame trailing McMaster 22-16.
 
While the Gaels did a better job in the second quarter trading baskets back-and-forth with the Marauders they struggled defensively to shutdown McMaster's offence. The Marauders were led in the quarter by Tristan Lindo who had seven points and a steal. McMaster out-rebounded the Gaels 13-9 but were outscored by Queen's 25-23 in the second frame. The score moving into the third quarter was 45-41 in favour of the home team.
 
The Gaels impressed in the third quarter putting up 34 points while holding the Marauders to 28. Queen's dropped nine points off of 3-point shots and scored five points off of McMasters fouls. Moving into the final frame, the Gaels held a tight lead over the Marauders with a score of 75-73.
 
The fourth quarter saw both teams score 22 points but with their lead established at the end of the third frame, Queen's came out on top with a score of 97-95. Gray led the way for the Gaels dropping 36 points and four assists. Connor Keefe also impressed with a massive double-double controlling the boards with 16 rebounds and scoring 17 points. McMaster was led by Jordan Henry with 27 points and seven assists.
