KINGSTON, Ont. (January 24, 2020)- The No.7 nationally-ranked Queen's Gaels (9-3) showed up with a clean set sweep 3-0 against the Ryerson Rams (7-6) on Friday night to extend their win streak to seven.
GAME FLOW
The Gaels hit their home court with an explosive first set. However, the Gaels calm and organized game play, speedy attacks from
Adam Boljkovac, and major digs from
Zane Grossinger kept the Gaels in a single point lead throughout the first set. Queen's held off the Rams with major momentum in the final moments of the first set, taking it 25-21.
The Gaels faced another battle in set two. The Rams continued with their powerful kills; however, the Gaels were able to keep the ball on the Rams side of the court. Grossinger and
Erik Siksna hustled to return the Rams attacks, with six digs each respectively. The Gaels took a well-deserved set 25-21.
The opposition did not let up in the third set. But the Gaels continued complete strategic plays. With multiple tips and kills from
Zac Hutcheson, and several serving errors from the Rams, the Gaels held onto the final set 25-22. The Gaels took home a clean set sweep 3-0.
