Kingston, Ont. (January 18
th, 2020) – The York Lions (12-5-0-1) soundly defeat the Queen's Gaels (9-7-1-1) 4-1 at Memorial Centre.
GAME FLOW
The opening 20 minutes were not kind to the Queen's Gaels, on a snowy Saturday night in Kingston. Taylor Coward opened the game with an early goal for York followed by two more as the Gaels were staring at a 3-0 deficit heading into the first intermission.
Alex Maw sparked a potential Gaels comeback push as she scored her fifth of the season making it 3-1 early in the second period. With the goal, Maw now sits tied with
Kaylie Dennis for the Gaels lead in goals with five.
Entering the third period, the Gaels looked optimistic after Maw's goal. Unfortunately, York would seal the win with finding the back of the net for their fourth goal of the game. With the victory, the Lions vault to first place in the OUA standings, while the Gaels fall down to fifth.
