Gaels suffer tough defeat against No. 1 Carleton

OTTAWA, Ont. (January 18, 2020) - The Queen's Men's Basketball team (8-6) fell to the No. 1 nationally-ranked Carleton Raven's (14-0) with a score of 98-70 on Saturday night in Ottawa. 

GAME FLOW

While the Gaels were able to keep things close early in the game, with Gaels going point for point with Carleton until midway through the opening frame, the Ravens showed why they are the No. 1 ranked team in the nation as the quarter went on, scoring eleven unanswered points and taking a definitive 15-4 lead into the second quarter.

Both the Gaels and the Ravens found more offensive success in the second quarter as Quinton Gray and Nikolay Alabi led Queen's with seven and six points respectively. While Carleton was lead by Isiah Osborne with 11 points, three rebounds and an assist. The Ravens accuracy and quick shooting gave the home team to a 46-30 halftime lead. 

The Ravens continued to dominate in the second half, cruising through to easily secure a 98-70 victory over Queen's. Carleton's bench made the difference as they scored 60 points, which almost doubles the Gaels who had 32 points off of their bench. This was the 14th win of Carleton's season which continued their untouchable OUA record and their No.1 rank in the nation. 

Quinton Gray led the way for the Gaels by scoring 18 points in 36 minutes of play, while Alain louis and Lloyd Pandi each had 18 points to lead the Ravens. The Ravens shot just over 56% as a team from the field and collected 32 rebounds to the Gaels 24.
